Creating Events
Events are the core of the plugin. Each event stores dates, times, location, capacity, and other details that determine how it appears on your site and how registration works.
Event fields
Basic information
Title The event name displayed everywhere on your site.
Description Full event details shown on the single event page. Supports the classic editor with formatting options.
Featured Image Used in event lists, calendar popups, and the single event page header.
Categories Organize events by type. Categories can be used to filter calendars and event lists.
Tags Additional keywords for organization and search.
Date and time
Start Date and Time When the event begins. Required for all events.
End Date and Time When the event ends. For single-session events, this can be the same day as start.
All Day Event Check this for events without specific start/end times. The calendar shows these without time displays.
Timezone Defaults to your WordPress timezone. Override for events in different locations.
Event location
Event Type Choose how the event takes place:
- In-person: Physical location, requires a venue
- Virtual: Online only, add a meeting link
- Hybrid: Both physical and online attendance options
Virtual URL For virtual and hybrid events. The meeting link shown to registered attendees.
External URL Link to an external registration page. Use this when registration happens outside your site.
Event settings
Event Status Track the lifecycle of your event:
- Scheduled: Upcoming event accepting registrations
- Ongoing: Currently happening
- Completed: Event finished
- Cancelled: Event will not happen
- Postponed: Event delayed to a future date
Registration Deadline Last date/time to register. After this, tickets show as unavailable even if capacity remains.
Featured Event Mark important events to highlight them in lists and blocks.
Organizer
Select who is organizing the event. Organizer details appear on the event page. See Venues & Organizers for details.
Speakers
Assign speakers to the event. Speaker profiles with photos and bios display on the event page. See Speaker Management for details.
Creating an event
- Go to Events > Add New
- Enter the title and description
- Set date, time, and timezone
- Choose event type and add location details
- Set capacity and other options
- Add an organizer and speakers if applicable
- Set a featured image
- Add categories and tags
- Click Publish
Editing events
Click on any event in Events > All Events to edit it. Changes take effect immediately after saving.
Bulk actions
From the events list, you can:
- Edit multiple events at once (change status, category)
- Move to Trash to delete events
- Duplicate an event to create a copy
Duplicating events
To create a similar event:
- Hover over an event in the list
- Click Duplicate
- Edit the copy with new dates and details
- Publish when ready
Event list table
The events list shows key information at a glance:

Filtering events
Use the filters above the list:
- All / Published / Draft / Trash: Post status
- Event Status: Scheduled, ongoing, completed, etc.
- Event Type: In-person, virtual, hybrid
- Time Period: Upcoming, past, today, this week, this month
- Category: Filter by event category
Sorting
Click column headers to sort by:
- Title (alphabetical)
- Date (chronological)
- Status
Event page display
The single event page shows:
- Event title and featured image
- Date and time with countdown
- Venue with map (if Google Maps configured)
- Organizer details
- Speaker profiles
- Event description
- Ticket purchase button
- Social sharing buttons
- Add to Calendar dropdown
Tips
Plan Ahead Create events well before the date so customers have time to find and register.
Use Categories Consistent categories help visitors find relevant events. Consider categories like Workshops, Conferences, Webinars.
Set Featured Images Events with images get more attention in lists and calendars.
Monitor Capacity Watch registration numbers and adjust capacity if needed. Consider enabling the waitlist for popular events.
