Pricing Modes

Smart Input Pricing offers three distinct pricing modes to match different business needs.

Per character mode

Charges customers for each character they enter, including spaces and punctuation.

Use cases

• Jewelry engraving - Ring and bracelet inscriptions
• Trophy engraving - Award plates and plaques
• Personalized gifts - Name plates, keychains

How it works

• Customer enters text: "LOVE"
• Character count: 4
• Price per character: $0.50
• Additional cost: 4 x $0.50 = $2.00

Configuration

Pricing Mode: Per Character
Price Per Unit: 0.50
Minimum: 1
Maximum: 50

Tips

• Set a reasonable maximum to prevent extremely long inputs
• Consider whether spaces should count (they do by default)
• Use minimum limits to ensure profitability

Per word mode

Charges customers for each word they enter.

Use cases

• Bakery messages - Custom cake inscriptions
• Gift cards - Personalized messages
• Print shops - Custom quote prints

How it works

• Customer enters text: "Happy Birthday John"
• Word count: 3
• Price per word: $1.00
• Additional cost: 3 x $1.00 = $3.00

Word counting rules

• Words are separated by spaces
• Multiple spaces are treated as one separator
• Numbers count as words
• Punctuation attached to words does not create new words

Per line mode

Charges customers for each line of text they enter.

Use cases

• Poetry printing - Custom poem prints
• Certificate services - Multi-line inscriptions

How it works

• Customer enters text with line breaks
• Each line break creates a new line
• Price is calculated per line

Line counting rules

• Lines are separated by pressing Enter
• Empty lines may or may not count (configurable)
• Single line inputs count as 1 line
